A fundamental reason trees (and greenery in general) are beneficial in a city setting – as a filter for carbon dioxide and other air pollutants. The more trees, shrubs and flowers, the better we all will be. Trees take in carbon dioxide and expel oxygen, but this process simply written out is boring. Finding a humorous way to push the message suddenly makes the idea enjoyable instead of dull. The issue of urban greening and bettering Baltimore’s communities should be taken seriously, but there is no reason the imagery used need always be the same.
