Remember Your Roots

The inspiration for my concept comes from my great grandparents who arrived in Baltimore from Sicily. The immigrant story is quintessential to Baltimore. Every neighborhood tells a different story, and every street narrates an evolving tale. As gentrification sweeps across our great city, it’s important to remember the residents who lived there first. Who built Baltimore into a bustling, industrial hub. And who are responsible for bringing many of our families here. I am happy that Santino and Santina Ciurca chose Baltimore. Their decision shaped who I am. I hope my message encourages others to remember their heritage and honor their personal traditions that lie in Baltimore and across the world.
