Trees to Meet You
Sponsored by Southwest Airlines
The concept behind this design is for the viewer to think of the trees as ambassadors who greet neighbors and visitors to their community. They are the first representation of life within the community. The urban scenery is constantly changing with new construction projects and buildings. Trees play an important role within the urban development because trees themselves represent life, growth and beautification. Instead of cutting down trees to make room for parking lots, houses, industries and manufacturing they are pushed to the forefront as protectors of urban life and beautification. Trees not only protect but also are an architectural accent to the community.
My inspiration for the design of the trees circular leaves was to highlight the cyclical nature of forests. From falling of its foliage to its rebirth in the spring, the tree is constantly changing and growing within the community. The tree is a celebration of life and its adaptation to change through the years along with its deep-rooted purpose within the community, life.
