Take the Lid Off

This banner is to speak of the sickly trees suffocated and shaped to look “pretty” by the urban life. Does the planting of new trees make amends for the primary forests cut down to build cities? It will take hundreds of years to make up for the damage caused by mankind. It is a banner meant to question if it is possible for a tree to spread roots in an environment made mostly of cement and asphalt. The jar alludes to the preciousness of trees and the fact that we appreciate them enough to replant them, to protect them. At the same time it symbolizes a city’s restraints on the newly planted trees. The roots in the image that break out of that jar are healthy and green and meanwhile the tree is dying on the inside. While the initiative to plant more trees in cities is wonderful, if one wants to climb a tree and fully enjoy nature, one would have to get out of the city.
