As Baltimore continues to REDEVELOP residential and commercial spaces throughout the city, the appropriate planning for community based public green spaces should be further considered in development. The benefits of planned wooded public spaces are often overlooked in revitalizing urban areas and can create healthy mental and physical benefits for generations to come. Reforestation of one acre of city land can remove 2.6 tons of carbon dioxide each year and provide shade and shelter while reducing yearly heating and cooling costs by 2.1 million dollars.
