While trees perform functions important to our health and well being, we can sometimes take them for granted as gratuitous objects of beauty; providing only shape and color to the visual landscape. Trees are majestic, but they are also constantly laboring. They remove harmful pollutants from the ground and produce cleaner air to breathe.

In this design, the tree is formed through the repetition of the simple shape used by scientists to represent bonded oxygen atoms. Here, the nutrients and pollutants in the soil are absorbed into the trunk, oxygen molecules are formed in the leaves and branches and emitted into the air, and sky, and atmosphere so we can breathe easier.
